This album explores man's dual nature that historically oscillates between aggression (war), and a search for peace and tranquility. The title, "War and Peace", originates from a famous novel written by Russian author Leo Tolstoy, and later often referenced in novels written by George Orwell.

Most tracks combine "Musique concrète", i.e. music that utilizes recorded sounds as raw material, with electroacoustic instruments, plus 4 celtic singers, ethnic/tribal drums, and several primal sounding ethnic bamboo flutes.

The last few tracks of the album offer us hope and courage, expressed in musical terms, that mankind will ultimately evolve towards love, peace, and tranquility.

This album is DEDICATED to IRENE WILSON, our bionic "Mom", who is (for better or worse), responsible for bringing Brothers Jim and Steve into this world.

She taught us to love music. While we were growing up, she would take Jim to concerts at the symphony in Cleveland, over 100 miles away. She would take Steve to a local dive nightclub (lovingly known as "The Glass Bar") to hear live jazz and blues. She looked the other way when the Brothers would stay up late at night, way past their bedtime, listening to jazz and R&B beamed at us across miles of wheat and corn fields from distant Detroit. Music lessons, starting as soon as our hands were large enough to play an instrument, were mandatory.

At 104 years old, she has been around to see a few things. She has lived through all the historical references on this album, plus much, much more. She's seen and lived through things we can only imagine. As a good musician herself, she not only gave birth to two "out there" sons, giving us the gift of life, but also gave us the gift of life-sustaining music. Love and thanks to you Mamma! Rock on!
